Capricorn Partners is hiring an Intern to support the investment team of its Capricorn Fusion China Fund. The Capricorn Fusion China Fund aims to deploy smart capital for successful companies wishing to scale up their European business in China. Vice versa, the fund also can invest in successful Chinese companies scaling up their business in Europe.
The fund plans to invest in around 10 companies with established transcontinental growth plans. The dedicated Sino-European investment team endeavours to positively contribute to the achievement of these ambitions by enhancing market access, providing equity capital, and deploying support. The fund is operational, has over € 36 million in committed capital, and targets minority investments varying from € 1 to € 5 million as lead investor or as part of a larger consortium.
As an Intern you will help to build and enlarge a portfolio of companies recognized for their excellent team, scalable technology, breakthrough potential, international ambitions, and potential for superior financial return.
The position foresees an engagement of 6 to 12 months for 1 to 2 days per week (to be discussed) and the preferred location is in Leuven (Belgium) but partially remote work is possible.
Support the investment team in deal flow sourcing (within the investment scope of the Capricorn Fusion China Fund).
Support the investment team in logging deal flow and contacts into the relationship intelligence platform.
Initial evaluation and analysis of potential investment cases: detailed review Information Memoranda, market research and competitive landscape.
Analysis and modelling of business plans.
Valuation analysis of potential investment cases.
Support in preparing Investment Recommendations to the Investment Committee.
Support in online marketing through providing content for the fund’s Wechat-account.
Core qualifications and requirements
Enrolment in a university program related to finance, business economics, engineering or technology with strong academic performance.
First practical experience through internships in fast-paced environments like strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, private equity or venture capital is a clear plus.
Excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
The ability to work independently and proactively.
Very good knowledge of the common Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Good understanding of the Chinese market, its business dynamics and culture is a clear plus.
Fluency in English is a must; fluency in Mandarin Chinese a clear plus.
Enthusiastic and curious about innovative technologies, new markets and entrepreneurship, positive attitude.
Ability to operate in a confidential manner, aware of any sensitivities around a potential transaction and maintaining the highest ethical and ESG standards.
