Bringing reproducibility and economics to fermentation
DMC produces molecules for the food, feed, chemical intermediates and chemical specialty industries. DMC opens up a wide range of high-margin products that are currently difficult to manufacture (hence costly). The company uses two-step fermentation to create fermentation facilities with short development times and high repeatability. The key technology is ‘gene silencing’: the microbe’s metabolic system is programmed in such a way that only the gene sequence for the desired product is active. DMC can enable significant carbon footprint reductions through more efficient manufacturing and the use of renewable feedstock to replace molecules that are currently produced through classical chemical pathways.
