Healthtech Investment Director

Capricorn Partners - an independent manager of private and quoted equity funds - is expanding its Health investment team in Leuven (Belgium).

You will help to build a successful portfolio of companies recognized for their excellent team, technology, scalable commercial potential, international ambitions and intrinsic capacity for superior financial return.

Your prime focus will be to support and develop the Capricorn investment activities of the Capricorn Healthtech Fund II focusing on digital health and medtech investments.

Job description
  • Originate investment opportunities through active prospection in Europe.

  • Evaluate and analyse investment opportunities.

  • Structure and negotiate terms and conditions of such investment opportunities.

  • Lead and manage due diligence missions.

  • Prepare and present Investment Recommendations to the Investment Committee.

  • Organize the preparation of legal documents, in coordination with legal counsels.

  • Manage portfolio companies through board or observer seats.

  • Continuously engage with a network of entrepreneurs, co-investors, financial institutions, business consultants and other relevant parties to build relationships, exchange information, promote Capricorn Partners and its funds and facilitate prospecting.

  • Build external recognition of Capricorn Partners and its funds to catalyse greater flow of investment opportunities

Core qualifications and requirements
  • Preferred degrees in Medical Sciences, Healthcare, Bioengineering, Engineering or a related field.

  • Background as Medical Doctor is a definite plus.

  • PhD or MBA is a plus but not a requirement.

  • Minimum 5-year experience in an investment function at a venture capital fund, incubator, family office, financial institution or corporate finance house or relevant professional experience within our target investment areas, originating from e.g. a corporate environment, a start-up or a management consultancy.

  • Have successful track record of investing and exiting venture backed companies.

  • Enthusiastic and curious about innovative technologies, new markets and entrepreneurship, positive attitude. An entrepreneurial experience in your career is a plus.

  • Fluency in English is a must; fluency in an additional European language is a plus.

  • Enjoys working in a team and interacting with professionals from all levels and functions. Consensus-driven personality with proven leadership skills. Willingness to mentor junior staff and to share knowledge.

  • Pro-active, entrepreneurial, result-oriented and with excellent networking, negotiating and communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Ability to operate in a confidential manner, aware of any sensitivities around a potential transaction and maintaining the highest ethical and ESG standards.
